A full Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy, Stephen was Senior Assistant Financial Director of a London Borough & Principal Assistant Finance Director to one of the largest County Councils, before he chose a career change aged 43. Prior to that, and subsequently, Stephen has worked in and with District Authorities,
Now a freelance consultant, Stephen advises and supports a number of Parish Plan Groups and community organisations. His wife has been Chair of a Parish Council. With over 30 years of public service experience, his networks and knowledge of the sector are second to none.
He has experience of being a Trustee of a National Charity, School Governor, Treasurer to Hertfordshire Community Council (now Community Development Agency).
Stephen helped establish The Hertfordshire Foundation, Groundwork and subsequently served a range of not-for-profit county-wide and local trusts.
Combining his Rotary and Round Table experiences, Stephen has an excellent feel for the pressures and issues facing the voluntary sector, service clubs and not for profit organisations today.
Convenor to PACE and to Aston Parish Plans Group, he has played a key role in promoting the ODPM’s and Countryside Agency’s Parish & Town Plans initiative.
Motivated to further promote bottom-up planning and community engagement, Stephen commented, “In his forward to recently issued guidance, the Chairman of the Countryside Agency, Ewan Cameron suggested that Parish, Town and similar community engagement processes will…help them shape and influence their own destiny1 “
He added, “ I and my colleagues would like to help others successfully achieve that goal”
Stephen is a member of the Charity’s Information Bureau, and the National Council for Voluntary Organisation’s (NCVO) Compact Network.
